Multiple Super Ring (MSR) is a scaleable redundant ring technology comprising of the Ring Master (RM) Redundancy, Rapid Super Ring (RSR), Trunk Ring, Multi-Ring, Rapid Dual Homing (RDH) and Super Chain.

It is a comprehensive solution unlike any other ring technology tailored for video surveillance in airports, transportation, highways, facilities, harbours, banks, campuses and malls.

A maximum of 250 switches (100Mbps or Gigabit) can be connected simultaneously to copper, fibre media or both, each supporting 16 rings that operate independently on the same network without compromising the functionality and performance of the network.

After a ring of switches is formed, a Ring Manager (RM) is automatically elected and the remaining switches will remain as backup RMs.

The RM will then create a backup path for one of its ring ports and monitor the ring status.

When a connection or device fails, the RM identifies the failure position and initiates its backup path to allow the topology to change before resuming traffic and preparing for Seamless Restoration.

If the RM fails, the next available backup RM will take charge to keep the ring in check.
